Focusing on the long term
A bright guy with a degree in Media Arts, Daven enjoyed teamwork and had gained good customer service skills in previous jobs. A stint of being out of work though had dented his confidence and he came to us looking for “anything…I just want a job”.
We encouraged him, however, to be true to his long-term goal of becoming a manager or supervisor of an admin or customer services function in an established company. Applying for ‘any’ vacancy just wouldn’t get him where he wanted to go. Instead we found him a role that offered definite promotion prospects – Data Entry Clerk with Mintel.
As well as impressing at interview, Daven needed to perform well in typing and numeracy tests. He did both. As a result, he’s now taking his first steps along a genuine career path.
