“As one of the largest water companies in the UK, Yorkshire Water has a strong affinity with the community it serves. Most of our staff are not only resident in the region but also our customers. When we decided to recruit trainees into the business, we wanted to attract interest from as wide a cross-section of the community as possible and from regional locations that would make our new trainee/ trainer partnerships geographically viable.
It was a challenge that we didn’t think traditional recruitment methods would address effectively. We decided to work with talent! for a few reasons. Firstly, we’d worked with them successfully before. Secondly, they could act as a filter and therefore reduce the chances of us taking candidates too far down the recruitment path before identifying a mismatch. And finally, they were more cost-effective than traditional recruitment methods.
By acting as a filter, talent! made sure we spoke to the right people to begin with. They also co-ordinated and facilitated a series of assessment centres which identified a number of strong candidates for interview.
As a result, we’ve successfully recruited a number of new trainees who’ve partnered up very effectively with existing people and are genuinely contributing to overall performance. We’d certainly involve talent! in any similar future projects.”
